Wt loss: The best weight loss program is always diet and exercise.  Avoiding contact sports is important (as cysts can rupture).  But most physical exercise is ok.  Watching fatty foods, calories and cholesterol is very important.

Least OTC as possibl: Over the counter medicines like non-steroidals e.g. Ibuprofen and Naproxen need to be used cautiously and after meals. Also, tylenol (acetaminophen) a few times daily on bad days could be used. However, if pain is worse or continuous you need to see your nephrologist since some of the large cysts could be aspirated yielding pain relief at least temporarily. The procedure is simple.

Not short.: Polycystic kidney disease in most cases is a mild slowly progressive disease. Many  patients do not even know they have it and they live and die without knowing they have it. They are eligible for transplant.
