Accepted Answer

Several causes.: Pain in the hip area can be caused by: muscle cramps, ovarian cysts, inguinal hernia, tendonitis, and nerve entrapment. You could have easily pulled a muscle. If this has been recurrent on chronic basis, i recommend getting either an x-ray or an ultrasound. Sometimes you may need to get both.

normal head mri w/wo contrast in feb 2013. have body tremors lightheaded off balance and random pinch pains left side of head. tumor?

Accepted Answer

Probably not.: A head/brain MRI is an excellent test for showing brain tumors.  So, if it was read as negative, you don't have a tumor (assuming it was read correctly).  If your symptoms continue, you might want to get a neurology referral.

having bloat/pinch pains in pelvic region.dr said have cervical polyp. did pap b4 removing. ua normal. last pap 6m ago normal. why the pains & bloat?

Accepted Answer

Many possibilities.: Your pain and bloating may not be related to the polyp at all. Polyps usually cause irregular bleeding but otherwise are asymptomatic. Pain and bloating could be a symptom of ovarian cancer or ovarian cysts.  A thorough work up should be performed including transvaginal ultrasound. Pelvic pain has many possible causes.  See your doctor for further diagnosis and treatment.

i took a laxative 2days ago an now i keep having pains in my sides it feels like little pinches do you know what's going on?

Accepted Answer

Colic pain: Many over the counter laxatives can overstimulate your colon causing spasms.  These can be perceived as colicky or stabbing like pain.  It is not recommended to take these medications on a regular basis since they can cause severe problems.  
I recommend for you to avoid these medications, if you suffer from constipation the best treatments are diet rich in fiber coming from naturally resources

Numb leg: Yes! sharp pain in a lower extremity due to nerve compression can cause this. Relieve by squatting down to flex the lumbar spine. Usually, anti-inflammatory medications can help, as well as some core strengthening with a flexion-based exercise program. Make sure nothing else is the cause of the leg pain! see a doctor and maybe have a scan performed.  U need a diagnosis!

Yes: Nerves in the upper cervical area can extend into the back of the head (occipital area) which can result in neck pain with combined headaches.  Seek out a neurologist to evaluate for different types of headaches - if ruled out, consider imaging or other diagnostic testing to determine if headaches are spinal in origin.

Why did you have it?: What was the reason for the surgery?  Could you have impingement on an intercostal nerve?  Yes.  If so, response depends on the background situation.  If you don't have pain proneness and no other background pain syndromes then injection of an impinged intercostal nerve can be helpful.  Was the background problem something that could be progressive?  Do you need re-eval for that?

Spurling : When you turn your head to one side & experience tingling and shooting pain  (radiculopathy) in your arm, upper back or shoulder region on the same side your neck was turned to, it may be indicative of  a pinched nerve (foraminal stenosis; nerve root impingement. Modification of this maneuver performed by the doctor is called spurling's maneuver or sign, named after the neurosurgeon who named it.

A number of ways: There are a number of possible treatments for a pinched nerve. These include (but are not limited to) steroid injections, surgical decompression, physical therapy and osteopathic manipulation. What particular treatment you receive will depend on the severity of your symptoms and the skill and expertise of your treating physician.
