i had had what i thought was a pimple under my lip line for about a month.. it is small but will just not go away. what could it be?

Mucocele possibly: The bump on the inside of your lip is probably a mucocele. It is caused when the duct to a minor salivary gland gets clogged or traumatized and the saliva backs up forming a fluid filled bump. They are most common on the lower lip but can occur elsewhere in the mouth as well. Small ones can resolve on their own. Large ones (as shown here) require surgical removal by and oral surgeon.

No risk, no wirry: HIV has never been known to be transmitted by kissing, regardless of pimples, lip biting, or anything else you can think of. And for sure not with closed mouth kissing. And the likelihood any particular woman has HIV is extremely low anyway. This is nothing to worry about.

Oral bumps: The lips are common sites for small blockages of the salivary gland ducts, which may seem like pimples. Usually these are transient and not serious. If it is primarily the lower lip, things like cheilitis glandularis or actinic cheilitis might be considered, which may be related to solar damage or inflammatory changes. If they persist, see your doctor for an exam.

Pimple or cold sore?: Pimples are common on the lip margin (the vermillion border) and around the mouth.  So are cold sores.  Sometimes it can be difficult to tell just by looking at one point in time. If there is pain, that might suggest cold sore, and if it does go on to blister, then cold sore it is.  However, if it does not go away within a week or two, i would recommend evaluation by a dermatologist.
