Phthisis: Unfortunately, phthisis is a permanent condition and there is no treatment available to give you vision back in that eye.  The most important thing you can do is to protect your good eye at all times, especially when you are participating in activities which are a risk to injuring that eye.

Extreme disease: Phthisis is the end result of profound trauma or significant, unremitting internal eye disease in which the eye essentially shuts down, the blood supply diminishes and the eye can become red and painful or shrink down.  You therefore would need significant trauma or illness to get it.  Hopefully this is not in your future.

Before diagnosing yourself with IBS though, make sure you have colonoscopy and EGD and labs done and an examination as IBS is what we call a diagnosis of exclusion, where we "rule Out" other causes then call it IBS.
