PhosLo allergy?: PhosLo (Calcium acetate) is used to prevent high blood phosphate levels while on dialysis. An allergy occurs when your body’s immune system creates antibodies to a foreign substance causing a reaction that can be mild to severe. Probably: Phoslo is used to help prevent build up of phosphates in women who's kidneys do not work well.  It should be used under a physician's supervision, with blood tests to check levels of chemicals in the blood.  It may pass into breast milk,  but is thought to be safe.  It does have interactions with both iron and calcium supplements.  Discuss this with your physician.

Because many people, especially those who take acid blockers, have low stomach acid, we recommend that you take calcium with food. For reasons that we do not know, calcium is well absorbed with food even if there is low stomach acid.

Depends: The calcium in all calcium pills is the same. Because calcium has a positive electric charge it had to be attached to something with a negative charge such as acetate, carbonate, malate, lactate, and others.

Singulair is an another medication that can be used.
