will taking phentermine affect your hormones and/or thyroid function tests? i currently take phen and i'm hypothyroid so i take that medication also.

Not a problem: Phentermine should not cause hormonal issues and will not interfere with the medication you take for hypothyroidism. Please understand that phentermine only works while you are taking it and you must learn to change your diet and exercise patterns or the weight will come back when you stop the drug. Good luck.

Yes, but: You need to take the thyroid medication if your thyroid level is abnormal. The Phentermine will only affect it if your dose of either is excessive. The phentermine, however, only works for as long as you take it - then you'll begin to gain the weight back unless you've learned how to eat properly - if you have, you don't need the Phentermine in the first place.

i take levothyroxine & liothyronine for thyroid issues in the morning. my doctor added phentermine for weight loss. can i take phentermine with the 2 thyroid medications together or do i have to wait one more hour before taking phentermine?

Drug rash: Based on what we know, the most logical step would be to stop the Phentermine and see if the rash goes away and stays away. Any drug can cause a rash. Otherwise, someone will actually need to see the rash in order to be able to help you.

Hypothyroid: If thyroid tests are normal, your intolerance to cold is not related to an thyroid disorder.

Neither: You do not need to fast for the liver function tests.    For the tsh, fasting is not generally needed, although there may be some variation in this tests between fasted and fed individuals.  For more specialized tests (t3, t4, etc.), patients taking replacement treatment need to be aware of when they took the medication in relation to the test (it may be more elevated closer to the dose).

Hypothyroidism : TSH is how the brain tells the thyroid what to do. When the TSH is elevated it is trying to make a thyroid produce more thyroid hormone. When the TSH is low, your brain is trying to tell your thyroid to slow down. Your thyroid is not making enough thyroid hormone. Please see your primary care provider as you may need to start on replacement thyroid hormone.
