Ovulation: Ovulation happens around 14 th day of your cycle, sometimes associated with pain but it's not severe pain. If severe  pain, fatigue, tiredness , other possibilities like tubal pregnancy, ovarian torsion , appendicitis has to be ruled out which are emergency situations.

Menstrual cramps: Try: omega- 3 fatty acids or magnesium (supplementation or through diet) with your doctor’s approval.  Nsaid'scan help with pain.  Discuss use of a traditional herbal like black cohosh with your doctor.  Chamomile tea can be soothing. Sipping green tea can also dissipate pain. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, extra salt.  A warm bath or heating pad is beneficial. Acupuncture is excellent for dysmenorrhea.

Hot flashes: If your cycle is changing and causing you distress it would be best if you could see your gynecologist. It may be a problem with your hormones or may be caused by something else.

Ruptured cyst?: Small cyst that ruptures can cause pain like menses.  Normal u/s is reassuring that nothing major is going on.  Bowel cramping can feel a lot like menses as well.

It happens sometimes: Many women have occasional variation of their mucus discharge, some spotting between periods, a heavier period, a lighter period, a longer or shorter period, or even a missed period.  Having one or two of these symptoms doesn’t necessarily mean there is a medical problem, but a visit to one’s primary care or Ob-Gyn doctor is a good idea if symptoms are persistent, recurring, or worrisome.

Probably normal: There is usually a cyst one one of the ovaries during the first 10 to 15 weeks of pregnancy.  That cyst can lead to more cramps, pain, and pressure.

Period Cramps: So sorry to hear!  If she has no allergies, she can take an over the counter anti inflammatory medicine.  Naproxen ( the blue one) lasts for 12 hours and can be taken one tab every 12 hours.   Ibuprofen is another option, but needs to be taken every 6 hours.  Watch for tummy upset as this is the main side effect for both of these medicines.

i ovulated from my right side but experiencing pain in my left side along with period cramps. could i be pregnant? had a mc 2 months ago

Accepted Answer

Possibly: Pregnancy is always a possibility. Purchase and perform a home pregnancy test.  These usuallly turn positive when you're about a week late.  If it's negative, repeat in a week and call your doctor.

i haven't period one week after my placebo pills and it's just like a normal period cramps and medium flow, should i continue my new active pills or no?

Yes: It's definitely normal sometimes for bleeding to occur as you're moving on into the active pills in your pillpack. Not to worry just keep taking the pills as you would.
