first period after 1 year on nexplanon 1/14-1-21. it was a light to normal flow stopped bleeding for two days after began having light cramping and brown discharge again, today it is still spotting but got clots and color is redder, is this normal?

Accepted Answer

: Irregular bleeding is normal on Nexplanon. It stops ovulation. Some have no periods. Some have fairly regular periods. Some people just bleed randomly. If you are not satisfied with the bleeding patterns, consider speaking with an Obgyn to discuss options.

i've had my period for more than 10 days now, is this normal? im 21, never had a child never been placed on birth control. just recently my period came back after one whole year of nothing.

Many : Many causes of this are possible.  It is still called secondary amenorrhea. You should visit your gyn doctor ; he will examine you  and then order some basic blood tests including prolactin, fsh, thyroid panel CBC and blood sugar. If all tests are normal, then you are reassured; if not other work-up will be indicated. Good luck.

i am not having my period past 1 year after i took depo-provera provera. is ther any health problem with me? my boobs are always big and hurting a little bit.
is there anything to be concerned about?  otherwise i feel glad about  the big boobs.

One : One of the most common side effects of Depo Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is ammenorrhea, which is absence of menstrual bleeding. This occurs in about half of women using this form of birth control, and does not likely indicate that you have any underlying medical problems. Since Depo-Provera is given approximately every 3 months, this is a good time to discuss the side effects you are having with your medical provider. During your visit any appropriate work up or counselling should be done. 
As far as breast tenderness and enlargement is concerned, that is also a common side effect of Depo-Provera provera. It is important to note that you should still have your yearly pap and breast exam, or be seen by your physician if you feel any abnormalities in your breasts.

is it normal to have your period twice in one month, once a year?

Depends...: Menstrual cycles are subject to stress, age, medication effects, pregnancy(obviously), and so on.  Twice in one month is most likely stress related; once per year may be ok if you are perimenopausal...However if not then you should go visit with your primary care physician for an evaluation; of even your ob/gyn if that applies.

Yes: It is possible to have your menstrual periods reoccur after having a novasure done.  Speak with your gynecologist and see if it should be done again or if you would benefit from another procedure.

now that i'm in menopause, should i be treating my body differently?  eating differently? please advise. i'm 53 years old, and just entered menopause (have gone one year without a period). what, if anything, should i be doing to address the changed needs

It : It is good that you are thinking about that.  One of the biggest problems that can occur after menopause is osteopenia or osteoporosis, or decreased density of the bones.  It is important to have a bone density study to see if you are at risk of future fractures.  If you are, there are medications that can strengthen your bones.  Many physicians advise taking calcium and vitamin d for the bones.  A good diet is obviously very important, both for the bones and cardiovascular health.  Many women have problems with weight gain during menopause, so exercising every day for at least 30 minutes is beneficial.  Also be sure that your mammograms and pap smears are up to date (you will still need a pap smear at regular intervals even after your periods stop).

Not normal: You need to see gynecologist to find the reason 
There is multiple reasons
Could be hormonal like premature ovarian failure or early menopause or not ovulating due to weight or insulin resistance 
Other causes like utrine scarring , stress or lot other causes 
Please see your doctor for right diagnosis and treatment

Yes: A girl of this young age with her periods already will quite likely be very irregular, even for several years. She may have two in one month, then one next month, then skip three months. Many of these cycles may be anovulatory. It's nothing to worry about, but make sure she is taking a vitamin with iron, as she is likely to get anemic having more than one period a month and at such a young age.

Hormone: You may have hormone problems-thyroid, peri-menopausal although you still young , some pt can go through the changes  at about your age.You need to see doctor for evaluation.

Accepted Answer

You : You need to see your doctor for a work up of your amenorrhea (absent period). Lab tests including fsh, lh, tsh, and prolactin should be done to rule out a hormonal imbalance/issue. Depending on the results your doctor may start you on a birth control pill to regulate your cycle, or give you a hormone called Provera (medroxyprogesterone) for ten days or so to see if this stimulates bleeding. Your doctor will guide you through this process of uncovering why your cycles are absent.
