Leaking: If you have an abnormal sensation your age may be a factor

if you are older the prostate may be an issue

if you are young it is important that the doctor not only checked the urine but also did a swab of the tip of your penis

in many of my patients i treat with antibiotics without a result as certain infections are very very common in sexually active adults.

Not unusual: Your age may have something to do with this? Urine comes down a long tube from the bladder to the tip of the penis.  After the bladder contracts and forces urine out, "the liquid left in the soda straw" then empties by gravity. If shaking the penis doesn't do the trick, you may have to reach under the testicles and milk the bottom of the penis out towards the tip to expel the urine and then shake.

Get evaluated.: Dribbling a little urine after voiding is common—some urine remains in the urethra after it leaves the bladder—but persistent dribbling should be evaluated by a urologist. The first part of the evaluation should be a voiding diary that quantifies how much you drink, how much and when you void, and when you experience leakage. Based on this information, further studies may identify a cause.

Urologist: You are probably dealing with congestion and/or inflammation of the prostate gland. I recommend consulting a urologist.who may perform massage to relieve prostatic congestion but may first check to determine whether the gland is infected in which case antibiotics would be prescribed.

Post-void dribble: Most common cause in females is vaginal trapping of urine if thighs kept close together during urination. Urine is trapped by labia, more so if subject is overweight. Prblem can be aleviated by pulling clothes down to ankles ; spreading thighs as widely as possible when urinating.Can also hold  toilet paper berween thighs when alighting from toiklet. Urethral diverticulum or cystocele can cause it.

Post-void dribbling: Post-void dribbling is a common condition where residual urine in the urethra leaks out after voiding. This can occur in healthy, fully continent men. Careful milking of urine after voiding is all that is necessary. A rare condition called a urethral diverticulum can sometimes harbor urine that leaks out. Persistent leakage, pain, infection, or blood in urine should be fully evaluated.

my son has a suprapubic catheter in but instead of his urine draining into the bag, it leaking into his nappy. everytime he passes urines through his penis it seems to cause him pain but then it goes away. does this mean his catheter is blocked?

: The catheter might be obstructed. A simple flush to the drain port will let you know. And please notify your urologist/specialist that is occurring. It’s important to rule out uti. Thank you and best wishes.

Proper peeing habits: Post-void dribbling is the leakage of a bit of urine after the penis is back in the pants. Boys can see a pediatrician to be sure the penis & testes are ok, but men should maybe see a urologist since adults can have more serious problems. If the penis is normal and the foreskin is not trapping urine, then be sure the penis hangs freely while peeing. Relax at the end to let the last drops come out.

how can you stop a drip of urine leaking out onto your clothes even after shaking your penis?

Milking the urethra.: In many, but particularly as one ages, it seems more men will have issues with this.  The bulbous urethra can collect urine & then as one repositions after urinating, some urine can leak.  It is recommended of course to "shake" but one may need to reach up under the scrotum and milk the urethra down towards the tip of the penis to propel urine forward & then "shake".  If more than this ck it out!
