Fluid shifts: Yes, this is normal. Retaining fluid is normal before this surgery. It is also normal to stop retaining fluid, and that will result in frequent urination. If the urination persists beyond 2 to 3 weeks then get evaluated by your surgery team or your regular doc. Be well.

: Hard to say without exam- also depends on the procedure you had. PL go back to the surgeon to be checkedIf you had a fistula you would be wet all the time.

Depends: Everyone has a different pain tolerance. Earlier abortion (first trimester) is less painful than later abortion. If you have had vaginal deliveries it probably will hurt less. If you use narcotics or other drugs, it will probably hurt more. Talk to your doc. Anesthesia is probably available if you're in new york.

Surgery: Surgery has a lot of risks, no matter what the procedure or the reason.  Although pills also carry their risks as well, many would argue that surgery carries more risks and possible known complications with it than pills.  Hope that generally answers your question.
