why do i have a hair patch growing out of my chin? it's about 4-6 hairs. been happening for a about a year and a half. have been diagnosed with pcos in past but this wasn't an issue atm. why is this happening all of a sudden? no med changes/diet/ect.

Polycystic ovarian: syndrome, see an OBGYN, that does work with this problem, or an endocrinologist.  The hair growth is from the PCOS.  It can be treated.

Absolutely: Pcos has many hormonal ramifications that do lead to fertility problems, weight gain and hair loss (scalp) and excessive hair (chest, face)  as well as acne and an oily complexion.  Have a doctor check this out because there are helpful treatments.

See endocrinologist: You need proper hormone work up to determine what hormones are out of range. If you have elevated male hormones tagamet, Aldactone (spironolactone) or Flutamide which are oral medications can help reduce hair loss. Topical rogaine in addition may be of value.

See you doctor: Pcos has many effects on the skin and hair.  There are treatments used to modulate the excessive testosterone effects of this condition. This may include birth control pills and/or the addition of spironolactone (a water pill) that blocks testosterone receptors in the skin and hair and throughout the body.  See your doctor for a thorough evaluation and help.

PCOS: Your doctor also may prescribe metformin (glucophage, glucophage xr), an oral medication for type 2 diabetes that lowers Insulin levels. This drug improves ovulation and leads to regular menstrual cycles. Metformin also slows the progression to type 2 diabetes if you already have prediabetes and aids in weight loss if you also follow a diet and an exercise program.

Throw it away: Don't be a sucker. You don't know what is in it because most testing shows the labels are fraudulent. There is NO BENEFIT to you even if the label is honest, which is unusual.

is it possible to have pcos without those two symptoms?

PCOS is different: Yes! PCOS is different with different people. The criteria for PCOS are 1) multiple cysts on ovaries (2) irregular periods (3) signs of increased testosterone including excess hair. So, you can have the first 2 criteria, and not the signs of increased testosterone, and still rule in.

Hair fall: Highly unlikely to be related to PCOS. Make an appointment to see a Dermatologist.
