i had a mri of my knee which showed patella tendonosis and bursitis had it for 14yrs can it be treated? if so how doing p/t and exercises .

P/T & NSAI: Pain in the patellar tendon is usally an overuse problem. The mainstay of treatment is pt or home exercise, antinflamitories & bracing . However 14 years of pain is not typical. If ypu have not seen an orthopedist, i suggest you do and you may benefit from an mri. Occasionally there is a surgical problem present tesponsible for pain in the anterior knee.Good luck.

Side effects for: Glyceryl trinitrate that have been reported include burning sensation, rash, swelling (if patch is used). Increased soreness after exercise may be due to overuse since there is less pain. Perhaps an alternate formulation (spray or ointment) might eliminate burning. Be aware of many precautions since this drug is indicated for heart conditions; treating tendinosis is off-label use.

Chondromalacia: Chondromalacia grading is  basically an estimation of the remaining thickness of cartilage on the end of the bone (articular surface). Grade 1 is essentially the best while grade 4 means full thickness loss of cartilage covering the end of the bone.  I would see your orthopedic surgeon for your options in the management of your injury.

Icing, supportive taping, and patellar tendon straps are adjunctive treatments that provide some relief of symptoms. A short course of oral or topical NSAIDs can be used for analgesia.

Patellar Subluxation: The patella can get dislocated.  It is called patellar subluxation.  A brace can be worn to keep it in place.  Exercises and physical therapy can build the muscles surrounding and stabilize it better.  If all else fails, surgery is the final step.
