Have her seen: It is likely she will have an abrasion of one or both corneas (clear part of eye) that would need treatment. She may also need a more thorough eye irrigation to remove any remaining sand. Time to go in now.

: Suggest neurological consultation, as you may well have Narcolepsy, and this can be handled successfully.  Would avoid driving until this is all controlled.

Blepharospasm: Inability to open the eyes unless there is underlying eye disease, is a condition termed essential blepharospasm.  This comes in varying degrees of severity and can render someone functionally without sight.  Treatment usually starts with Botox injections but can also include surgery to remove muscles that cannot uncontract.

Case of Missing Lens: Consider wearing swim goggles so that you don't find yourself starring in the "case of the missing lens" [a nancy drew mystery?]. I know people who swear that they've never lost a lens when swimming in a pool. But usually goggles are cheaper than replacing contact lens. If it doesn't float off your eye, it could pop out when you're wiping your face.

Eyes: This condition is called legophthalmos and may lead to dry symptoms due to lack of a tear film overnight.  It is caused by improper function of the orbicularis muscle in the eyelid for one of many temporary or permanent reasons.  It is treated by addressing the underlying problem, and possibly by using a prescribed eye gel at night or mechanically taping the lids shut.
