Fingers together: It is condition found at birth in which the fingers share skin and sometimes bone and nail. I think the latin translation is actually together finger. There are essentially stuck together. It can affect any bordering digits and even rarely the thumb.

Complex syndactyly: Means that not only  are fingers or toes attached by skin webbing but by bone and or the nail. This differs from simple syndactyly where only skin attaches the fingers or toes to each other . In both cases digits can be separated surgically , surgical separation is common in the fingers. An experienced hand surgeon can offer this  surgery, at times toes are not separated, but fingers usually are, .

Rare and isolated: During the early weeks of pregnancy, the child’s fingers and toes form in a “mitten” of skin. By the end of the second month of pregnancy, the extra skin dissolves, and the fingers and toes should separate. Syndactyly occurs when the fingers and toes do not fully separate during development.
Some forms of syndactyly are inherited, while others are sporadic, . Most cases of syndactyly are isolated

Syndactyly: Syndactyly, a common congenital hand anomaly, is an abnormal connection of fingers or toes to one another—the digits are "webbed, " and have failed to separate normally during development. It most commonly involves the middle and ring fingers. In about 50% of cases, both hands are involved. Syndactyly may occur alone, or with other anomalies.  There may be skin and soft tissue fusion or bony fusion.

Depends: Syndactyly, or fusion of the fingers or toes is one of the most common limb malformations & nearly always an inherited condition. Unless your bf knows exactly which pattern of inheritance his is, can't tell 4 future.Its a minor & fairly easily corrected malformation which occurs in otherwise healthy kids. This is not a result of something mom or dad "did'!

Type?: There is sporadic syndactyly unrelate to any inheritance pattern, however there also is an autosomal dominant form that is passed down to offspring with  less than 100% penetration. Does your husband have a family history? Otherwise could just be sporadic form. Syndactyly also is sometimes associated with other congenital abnormalities.
