Type?: There is sporadic syndactyly unrelate to any inheritance pattern, however there also is an autosomal dominant form that is passed down to offspring with less than 100% penetration. Does your husband have a family history? Otherwise could just be sporadic form. Syndactyly also is sometimes associated with other congenital abnormalities.

Dominant: Syndactyly is generally considered an autosomal dominant trait, meaning you need only one of a gene pair for it's expression.However, it is also known to have a variable penetrance or presentation and could skip a generation.
