O2 therapy: Is quite dramatic...Plays well on tv.  Oxygen may help conditions that are caused by hypoxia, but 'blackouts' are caused by seizures or heart rhythm irregularities.  Even in codes, establishing an airway and ventilating are more critical than the very high o2 concentrations of a non-re-breather mask.

No machines needed: Because a person can be easily taught to control their breathing (no apparatus needed). A paper bag is also cheaper than a machine.

Not normally: If the partials are made right, fitted correctly and adjusted as needed, they are not painful. Many peoplwe wear them for years and trhey become a part of them. Partials can be all plastic or plastic and metal, but either type can be very comfortable after an initial period of adjustments and getting used to them.

Airway device: "laryngeal mask airway", which is an airway device that sits in the throat just above the vocal cords, used for general anesthesia. This is opposed to tracheal intubation, where the breathing tube passes through the vocal cords. This is less invasive, and often requires fewer medications, but it is not necessarily safer or less safe. You may still have sore throat, but shouldn't have hoarseness.
