Lots of reasons: Too dry, too hard, too fast, penis too big, vagina too small, not enough foreplay, impeforate hymen, infection, vaginismus....The list goes on and on. If the pain persists, it is time to call your family doctor.

Cervical Irritation: There is a price to pay with friction and "rough sex".  For females this often is cervical irritation and bleeding.

Sexual Irritation : After sexual stimulation, especially if vigorous, all the symptoms you describe can occur.  Very often this signifies irritation/inflammation and not infection per se.  If symptoms persist, you will need to be examined.

Pain generation evoked by this major joint radiates to the pelvis &amp; sexual activity, as femurs are abducted, torques joint to even greater intensities of pain generation. The problem becomes particularly expressed in women who have Joint Hypermobility Syndrome. See comments.

Bacterial vaginosis is an overgrowth of normal vaginal bacteria. It causes a watery discharge with a fishy odor. It is not sexually transmitted and your partner does not require treatment. It is treated with antibiotics.

Many causes: Vaginal atrophy is a come cause of intercourse pain after menopause. Osphena is a medication that can be very helpful. Pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic organ prolapse and  other uterine/ ovarian / Colon/ bladder issues can also contribute. The next step is a pelvic exam by an Obgyn to help guide the evaluation and treatment plan
