R/O BAKER'S CYST: Your SX are suggestive of a bakers cyst that may be leaking or potentially ruptured. You need to be examined and have an US or potentially MRI performed On the affected knee and calf. Seek prompt medical attention.

Knee Pain: Pain behind the knee can be from a muscle sprain and sometimes from a cyst. Has she had a specific injury ?  Does she have the pain only when she flexes her knee ?  I think we need a little more history to help. 

The main concerns are locking, catching and giving out of the knee.  Those are often related to problems that may require surgery.

Several causes: There are several possible causes. See an orthopedist to have the knee pain evaluated properly. Causes include arthritis, tears, tendinitis and vascular issues.

Possibly....: Surgery makes blood thicker for 8 weeks afterwards, and blood clots can be dangerous.  In the legs they can show up as pain, swelling, redness, or tenderness of the calf or thigh.  If you pull your toes up towards your head, and it makes the pain worse, this is more likely.  Muscle spasms also possible.  Since blood clots can permanently damage veins, get it checked out. Clot: Given your medical history make sure you don't have a blood clot. If not see an orthopedic surgeon.

See a doctor: An examination will be needed to determine the cause of your knee pain. Mechanism of injury ( how it occurred) and the presence of swelling and/ or instability of the joint are important factors in determining the nature of the injury.

NOT to worry: but I would ask your Primary Care Provider if perhaps an ECHO (Ultrasound) of your Deep Veins in the calves is indicated!

Cyst: If you can feel or palpate a fullness behind your knee this may be a baker's cyst. These put pressure on the structures behind the knee such as nerves, tendons, or blood vessels. The symptoms arise from the pressure. Surgery may be required.

i had a pain on my calf and behind the knee for 4 days and now is going away slowly should i still be worried about the possibility of dvt?

: Do you have risk factors for DVT? Did you have a period of immobility, for example, like a long car or plane ride? If you are concerned about a DVT, have your doctor order an ultrasound of your leg to rule it out. You can have a DVT without any symptoms so an ultrasound is the only way to rule it out for sure. See a doctor: Possibilities include a cyst and DVT( deep vein thrombosis), so please see a doctor for examination and appropriate tests. DVT is serious.
