Most likely trauma: The most suggestive description is that it hurts to touch it.  And that it hurts to cough suggests pleurisy or inflammation of the lung lining.  This can be anything from a significant contusion to the rib or even a small, non-displaced fracture. If it is slowly getting better, you can watch it. If pain is increasing or difficulty breathing, needs evaluation, your Doc or Urgent Care:)

have pain to touch on left rib cage starting at bottom rib up to almost my arm pit.  no injury.  doesn't bother me otherwise.could this be lymph node?

No: This may represent a chest wall inflammation or infection. Get examined and get an xray. Additionally this may be a prodrome of shingles: watch for a blistering rash and seek medical attention.

on the left side of my rib there is a lump it goes from the bottom to thecenter of my ribs when touched it goes numb. i don't know what this could be.?

See your doctor: If you can feel a large lump it should be checked by a physician. It is not normal and should be assessed.

Chest pain.: More information will be needed. With chest pain on the left without obvious cause or origin, you want to rule out cardiac causes. If all work ups are negative, you have been having this pain for sometimes and it does not cause any problem, it might be Prinzmetal's angina. Please follow up your doctor for further evaluation.

Injury? Bite?: Unless you know how this came to be, it sounds like a good idea to have it looked at. If it's almost gone by Monday - that's good. Otherwise call your Dr - offer a photo - have an exam if possible.

Shingles? : Sounds like shingles - a herpes zoster virus inflammation. A resurgence from an old chickenpox infection. It's possible to have the pain symptoms without the skin rash. Do see a clinician to see if this shingles assessment is correct &amp; to start treatment. Hope that helps.

previous dvt. on warfarin. pain left side upper abdom near bottom rib, but only when cough. tender to touch. vitals norm. no difficulty breathing.

PE : This may be symptomatic of a Pulmonary Embolus. If you don't have an IVC filter you should go to get a CTA of chest to look for PE and if you have one you should get filter.

Possible: More likely is bowel, either splenic flexure of the colon or small intestine. Sounds benign but see doc if persistent. Could be diverticulitis.

i have swelling and slight pain sometimes at bottom of left rib. had endo showing no problems. ct results are fine also. what could be causing this?
