It doesn't matter: It doesn't matter which way you sleep as long as you are comfortable with the incisional pain.

9 days post c section. i am getting twinges of dull pain on right side flank above hip and few electrical pains low in pelvis.is this normal healing?

Probably not: Incisional pain is common for a couple of months after a c-section. As long as there
is no bulge that comes and goes suggesting
a wound hernia, or signs of abscess (very un-
likely at 5 weeks) you can quit worrying.

C-Section: Cesarean sections have usually non-eventful recoveries.  Other than a sore abdomen, where the incision is made, and some restrictions as to activities for about 4-6 weeks, the recovery from a "C-section" is often less painful than a difficult delivery.  Having a C-section does not necessarily commit you to another with your next pregnancy.

Nerves: Cutaneous nerves travel along the area where the sides of the incision are and they can be disturbed during the surgery. This is normal and the nerves will heal fine in time.

Ceasearn : Ceasearn section is an extremely common, but still invasive surgery.  In my experience, residual pain is typically worse on the right side of the incision, approximately one-inch above the scar.  Most surgeons are right handed, and stand at the right side of the patient.  When stitching up the incision, we sew towards us and then tighten the final knot in this area.  The pain is typically fromt the fascial layer (the band of tissue one inch beneath the skin surface, that actually holds your abdominal contents in).  This pain is generally gone in 6-8 weeks.

Sometimes, a suture may be inadvertantly tightened around one of the nearly invisible nerves in the fascial layer.  If this is the case, then it will improve over a number of weeks to months as the suture disolves and releases the nerve.  Alternatively, a obgyn can inject some anesthetic (with/without steroid) to the site of pain.  In my experience, this is extremely effective.  It can also help determine the nature of your pain.

Lastly, collections of fluid/blood/pus may be lurking under the skin.  Redness, pain to the touch, foul odor, and leakage are typical symptoms.  If this is the case, then the incision needs to be opened and drained.

All symptoms, as you know, depend on your general health and weight prior to the surgery -- as well as your activity level once home with the newborn.  Congratulations!

just had a c-section 4wks ago..is it possible for oneside of the incision to be infected and the other side not?

Definitely: It's actually more likely that only part of the incision would be infected than the entire incision. It's important to get treated early on a postop infection. See your doctor as soon as possible. Infections can get worse quick.
