Coccydynia: Tailbone pain can occur with or without injury. Only real concern is to exclude a sacral tumor (extremely rare). If bowel/bladder habits normal, probably ok. Treatment included nsaid's, and a sitting pillow. Not a doughnut, but a foam wedge with triangle cutout. This keeps you sitting leaning forward without pressure on the coccyx. If persistent, removal is rarely needed but successful.

Implies nerve: for the type of pain. This is near an area where disks pop out and injure nerves frequently. Other disorders (congenital spine condition, tumor, even infection) can also irritate nerves. cannot say in your particular situation but an MRI could.

Pain: The symptom you mentioned  may be caused by several reasons. One of them is you broke your tailbone inadvertently by sitting suddenly. To confirm or discard this diagnosis is necessary a medical evaluation and an x ray.

Coccygeal pain: Is there additional history? Trauma?
Generally coccygeal pain and coccyx fracture are treated conservatively.  Sitting on a donut pillow, avoid pressure on the area, and tincture of time are usually most appropriate.  However, if this just came out of nowhere then it is probably worth a physical exam and perhaps imaging to determine exact cause.

Tailbone pain: pain in the coccyx (tailbone) can be caused by significant weight loss -  the coccyx relies on padding (fat) in the buttock.  With significant weight loss - the coccyx no longer is "riding high" off of chair or bed - causing pain.   sitting on a foam "doughnut" pillow can help alleviate this

i get a pain just above my anus i feel it when i am sitting for more than 5 minutes and it makes it difficult to stand. i think its my tailbone but i am not sure , its been a week now and i thought it would go away but it hasnt ?

Tailbone pain: It can certainly be a tailbone pain. Is it associated with any other problems related to bladder or bowel. Any recent trauma. Would recommend getting examined. Can use heat packs regularly if tailbone pain, should help.
