Take it easy!: If is just soreness it will get better in a few days. If the pain is still there after 2-3 days, then you may have a sprain/strain and you should visit your doctor for an evaluation. Shoulder pain: This is likely a strain type injury. Recommend rest, ice, compression, and an over the counter anti- inflammatory (ibuprofen or naproxen). If symptoms continue after this treatment for 2-3 weeks, seek consultation with orthopedic surgeon

More significant injuries may be a tear of the labrum or rotator cuff tendons.  You should be evaluated by an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in shoulder problems.
