i ran a half marathon yesterday. i have a sharp pain on the outer edge of my foot when i walk. what should i do to help heal it?

Let it recover....: It would help to know just where on the outer edge of the foot the pain is. (Front, middle, back). The main question is whether or not there is a potential stress fracture at play or just soft tissue irritation. X-rays may not show anything at this point, at least not a stress fracture. Rest, elevation no excessive stress is the best way to help the foot recover.

Sun exposure?: If they are covering both feet (?) symmetrically- they may be sun spots from sun exposure. If you havent been exposed to the sun and these are new findings, go have them looked at

Depends: There are a number of causes for bone spurs to develop on the outside of the foot.  Among the two most common causes for spurs to occur are either along an arthritic joint or as a result if chronic pressure/irritation.  A bunion être deformity is among the most common causes and the forefoot is widened in that area causing chronic irritation and spurring when rubbing against a shoe.  Get checked.

Foot pain: Congrats for recognizing that your feet are not supposed to hurt!  there can be many different reasons for foot pain.  From arthritis, plantar fasciitis, stress fractures, general foot fatigue, and countless more.  Even the time of day the pain comes can help determine why you are having pain.  You can ask your pcp for a podiatry referral if the pain continues to worsen.

Foot tingling: Outer edge of foot tingling/numb could be lower back related. It could also be hydration or circulatory system related, rarely it could be brain related in the thalamus along the foot region represented in the brain.

Toe pain: Toe pain can be caused by many things: fungal infection, blister, ingrown toenail, gout, fracture, skin infection, bruise, callus, bursitis, bunion. You should see your Dr if the pain and discomfort are persistent and you don't see any skin changes/redness/flakiness. They may choose to treat you themselves or refer you to a podiatrist. Feet are vital to keep healthy as we age.

i dropped a drawer on my foot 2 days ago, and it swelled up when i did it. it is very painfull, a bit swollen ad red and purple around the edges.

Fracture: You might have broken a bone in your foot.  Elevate and ice the area overnight.  If there is still swelling and black and blue areas  and very painful, see a foot doctor.
