TMD\TMJ: What you describe are some of the symptoms of temporomandibular joint dysfunction commonly referred to as tmj. Take some otc pain medication such as advil, motrin, aleve (naproxen) or what you would normally take for a headache. Stay on soft diet, don't chew gum, apply warm moist heat to area ; give it a few days. See a dentist who can better examine you for causes ; treatment options.

It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. It can at times....: The maxillary and mandibular jaws are innervated by the trigeminal nerve. This nerve has many branches in the head and face and irritation on one branch may manifest itself as referred pain in another branch. See your dentist to rule out any problems with your teeth.
