i swallowed a drink and got a chest pain that went into by back. the same thing happened when i burped. is this a cause for concern?

Sounds GI related: As described, this sounds GI related, especially with the history of belching.  Discuss with your dr. As it sounds like you may need to at the least avoid trigger foods that may irritate your esophagus or GI tract and cause "heart burn.".

Pain: Sounds like you actually do have gas pains. If you can't stop air swallowing, you can try taking simethicone(Gas-X) four times a day and see if it helps.

Can see one's doctor: Swallowing pains can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or the flu (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies, irritants, or acid reflux. Usually, a person sees the doctor if such symptoms are bothersome, recurrent, or don't go away quickly. If one's chest has worrisome or increasing symptoms, the ER may be a better place to get seen.

yesterday, i felt an enormous chest pain, and i couldn't breathe/swallow. my hands contorted and locked. my calf also locked, and my back arched.  so scary & physical-can it really just be anxiety?

my chest has gradually gotten more and more tight and sore through out the day. i have pain that spreads up my neck and down my back when i breathe that is similar to the chest pain. im also having pain when swallowing and burping. ?

Evaluation: Please see your physician, a chest image and PFTs may help to determine the cause. Asthma or chest wall inflammation should be considered. Take Motrin and apply a heating pad. Watch for signs of difficulty breathing.

Likely fm esophagus: Pain localized near the area beneath the breast bone generally reflects irritation to the esophagus(swallowing tube) as it enters the stomach.Stomach acid can push up the esophagus & leave behind a sunburn like change to the tissue & cause pain with feeding. Cafeine, sodas, chocolote, acidic foods&eating close to bedtime all can aggrivate the process. Disc with your dr as diet chg or meds can help.

Answer: Most likely, the crab shell caused a scratch on the inside of your esophagus, but if you are experiencing nausea, vomiting, regurgitation of undigested food, drooling, or breathing/talking difficulties, see a doctor. Otherwise, viscous lidocaine combined with Mylanta over the counter can help to relieve the pain, which should resolve in 2-3 days.
