Pain in the ***: somewhat common condition -  coccydynia  - may be a sign of infection - pilonidal cyst.    inflammation of the area can cause pain with sitting and standing  -  any other symptoms?   - you could try warm sitz baths  -  or using a foam "donut"    a course of OTC antiinflammatories might be useful.   if these don't help -  please make an appointment with your doctor.     good luck

See doctor: To see if she needs antibiotics and to make sure this is not crohn's disease. Crohn's disease can sometimes start with boils or abscesses around the anus or on the buttocks.

my mother is feeling pain when sitting down. now she sits with pain in the area  between the buttocks. what can be the issue. what can we do?

Coccydynia: An inflammation of the tailbone or coccyx which is located between the buttocks. Usually  patients have pain and tenderness at the tip of the tailbone and pain is often worsened by sitting. Use of well-padded seat when sitting and avoidance of long periods of sitting can help relief the pain. Use of anti-inflammatory meds can help. If symptoms persist or worsens, have her be seen.

Buttock ulcer.: Depending on where the ulcer is a doughnut pillow  to sit on may be helpful. Alternatively you could fashion your own form foam with  a cut out where the ulcer is so that it is not in contact with  a hard surface

Low back pain: It's probably starting in your low back. Usually these things resolve within 4 weeks if you are careful, rest, and don't re-injure yourself. Can happen with minimal "injury" like forceful cough, catching a falling object, etc. Do some gentle stretches (forward bends from the waist), use heat or ice for comfort. Consider physical therapy if no better. See a Dr for weakness or bowel/bladder changes.

Ouch: sciatica (pain related to the course and distribution of the sciatic nerve), along with paresthesias (unusual sensations associated with sensory nerves) can be due to muscular inflammation, but might reflect ongoing damage to the nerve itself. Best to consult with your Primary Care practitioner for further evaluation and possibly imaging.
