Yes, but....: If the fracture is not displaced and does not have an eye muscle trapped in it; yes it will heal on its own.  But you must have an eye exam to make sure you don't have any muscle entrapment.

If punching hits: more than just nose then infraorbital floor or rim could be fractured. Of course - the eye itself could also be injured. Don't know the method of trauma in the case you are referring to.
