Not uncommon: It is not uncommon to have some residual pain at the site of an epidural injection. It typically goes away in a few days to a week. If it does not go away or is accompanied by fever, severe pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, bowel or bladder programs you should see your doctor immediately.

No: Rarely. There is a distinction between continuous pain 2 months after an injection and the fairly sudden onset of pain after 2 months.

In either case, it is best to follow up with the original person or team that assisted in your care.

Hematoma: The lump could be a hardened blood clot under the skin as some bleeding might have occurred at the time of the injection. This is not a dangerous type of blood clot but if it has hardened it may not completely dissolve. It shouldn't cause any other symptoms,however. See your physician if symptoms persist.

No, get evaluated: While the symptoms you describe may simply be a result of nerve root irritation, they may represent a hematoma- bleeding from the lumbar puncture site can put pressure on the nerve root or the spine itself.  This can be extremely dangerous, and you should definitely get checked to rule out the possibility.

i had a toradol injection 9/1 for a migraine it was given in my left hip/buttocks. i still have pain at the injection site if i bump it. is having pain still at the injection site a common thing to happen?

: The intramuscular injection can affect the muscle it was injected into for a while, sometimes a few weeks, after the injection. If it only hurts when bumped, it is likely getting better. If you avoid bumping it and sit on soft surfaces, it is likely to heal faster. If ice or heat makes it feel better, that may help as well. Good luck!

got a cortisone shot in my neck for a bulging disc.4 days after i feel soreness still and will get a sharp pain at the injection site and it seems slightly swollen. is this normal?

No: There may have been slight bleeding under the skin at the injection site. If so, black and blue discoloration of the skin as well as tenderness develops around the injection area. If pain or swelling worsens get examined by the physician who administered the injection.

i have undergone an extraction for my lower, first pre-molar.an inferior alveolar nerve block was given to me but since, there's pain at the injection site and reduced mouth opening. what should i do?

Give it time: I assume the procedure was just recently completed.  You should give it some time for the soreness should go away, check with the dentist if you are still having trouble with the area in a few days.  Message  your jaw and moist heat may also help.

i had ac solu-medrol injection on saturday for asthma treatment in urgent care, is it normal to feel pain and burning after the injection? and also pain at the injection site days later? i'm concerned

Cellulitis: Sometimes the injection site can be painful and sore. As long as its improving that's okay. However if the site looks red, hot, tender to touch, there might be infection happening. Then you should see a doctor: May be consult a HealthTap doctor!

Possibly: Pain directly at the lumbar puncture injection site should only last a few days.  Injection of contrast material for imaging study or medication for therapeutic reasons can create temporary irritation of the nerves.  This will result in weakness.  Don't wait on this, please consult with your doctor.
