No: Get another opinion. See a rheumatologist or orthopedist. Has an MRI been done? Is the knee swollen? You have put up with the pain long enough.

Many other options: I asume the knee pain is on the basis of osteoarthritis. Nsaids and/or injectable lubricants can help.

U may want a: second opinion from an Orthopedist.Take copies of all X-rays .Ask PT who is good.

Difficult question: Without examining you or knowing where your pain is it is difficult to answer that question. If it is behind the knee cap it could be patella femoral syndrome. This is a patella tracking problem that often has normal tests although it should improve with pt and /or bracing. Another option is that the pain is referred from another source such as your hip or lower back.

CT 4 alignment&? : Also an mr may be needed 2 evaluate the rest of the knee articular surface. A scope may be needed or a patellar realignment procedure may be also needed. C ur orthopedic surgeon.

Right program: The first questions is wether or not the diagnosis is correct.  Too often patients are sent to pt without any specific directions for the therapist.  All pt is not the same.  Even if all treatments are appropriate there still is a change of continued pain.  The goal of pain management is to do just that.  Manage the pain.  The goal is to improve function to maintain quality of life.

Follow... protocol: Yes, one can have tendinitis pain even when resting after physical therapy. As long as it is tolerable, no problem. Just follow PT/ PCP protocol of management. If pain increases or becomes severe, then one should have it reevaluated by MD  or Ortho Consult

is infrared lamp (red light therapy) effective for knee pain? i have some discomfort above my knee due to a small bone spur.pain went away for a few months thanks to physiotherapy. now a little discomfort is back as i stopped physio for a few days?

: Not particularly. The heat sensation triggered by the light will tend to make the brain focus on the heat sensation &amp; less on the pain. The same can be said for lotions &amp; creams that give you a warm or hot sensation over the joint. The underlying inflammation in the joint is not altered by such therapies, you are just distracted from the pain transiently.

As seen above since 2015 all physical  therapists need  to  have a doctorate ( i.e. doctor of physical  therapy). . Sometimes a PTA- physical  therapist assistant works under the physical therapist doing the exercises with patients.
