We don't know: There is ongoing research at yale university that has released some preliminary results showing that brains of the children who receive oxytocin (intranasally) showed activation of areas of the brain responsible for socialization.

It is dangerous: Oxytocin is used to augment labor, and is also the hormone that is involved in let-down in a lactating woman. It does not really increase milk supply as much as it allows the milk to release. It is only used in labor under very careful monitoring because it can drop someone's blood pressure. Fenugreek, metaclopromide, and pumping are better options to increase supply.

Under study: There are reports that individuals (mostly adults) with asperger's disorder and high-functioning autism who use inhaled oxytocin so that it gets into the brain find themselves feeling more inclinded to be social, at least for a time.  No studies suggest permanent changes, and it is unlikely to be a "cure" for autism, although it is an interest research lead.

Nothing: Natural initiation of labor is due to several body  internal  hormone factors that work in concert to start the process. There is nothing that can be done externally to initiate the process.

Why?: Not sure why you are asking this.  Oxytocin is the hormone released by the pituitary gland during breast feeding that causes release of milk.  It is also used pharmacologically to induce labor as it causes uterine contraction.  If your question is more related to stopping breast milk production after pregnancy, bromocriptine had been used previously, but is no longer allowed for this use.

Very Very Rare...: Fortunately, Amniotic Fluid Embolism (AFE) is very rare.  Most Ob/Gyns practice their entire career without seeing a single case.   Oxytocin is recommended for many reasons including prolonged labor.   Best wishes!
