what are the symptoms of undiagnosed asthma? i have 100% oxygen levels. can anxiety trigger an attack?

Lots of overlap: Asthma and panic symptoms often have a great deal of similarity including shortness of breath and tightness in one's chest. And for those with asthma, panic can cause an attack prompted by hyperventilation and cascading stress symptoms. Creating a journal of symptom occurence may help your doctor determine whether symptoms are due to asthma or anxiety.

Anemia: Anemia may cause the same symptoms of shortness of breath and fatique because available oxygen is not getting effectively delivered to tissues.  If symptoms persist a visit to the doctor is in order.  Heart and lung problems or thyroid derangements are also a possibilities.

can one be in anaphylactic shock and still have oxygen levels of 98%? the nurse said it was an anxiety attack but dr. said it was anaphylactic  shock.

Unlikely: Anaphylactic shock is the most severe form of allergic reaction and there is decrease in blood pressure (shock) likely with other symptoms like hives, itching, cough/wheeze, and abdominal pain/vomiting.  If shock is significant with or without respiratory symptoms, oxygen level will likely fall.  If blood pressure is decreased but not profoundly, oxygen level may be preserved.  See an allergist.

Potentially: If you have COPD or severe asthma and your ability to get enough air is already compromised, then yes, panic attacks can cause oxygen saturation to drop by hyperventilation and shallow breathing, but generally not meaningfully if otherwise in good health.

Shallow breathing: Will lower oxygen level.  We often rib cage breathe when anxious.  Please learn some belly breathing and you will increase your oxygen level.  Peace and good health.

i started to fixate on my breathing?? i thought i was hyperventilating but checked how many breaths i took in 60 seconds and it was 14. oxygen at 99 pluse 67 thank you? sound like anxiety??

: Your stats show good pulmonary status. I agree that anxiety is a factor and is not helped by fixating on your breathing. I assume that you're not experiencing shortness of breath on physical activities. When you feel breathless by focussing on your breathing, try breathing in and out with pursed lips. This helps you relax.

: Blood oxygen level (e.g. by a pulse oximeter, if you have one) would always be normal in shortness of breath due to anxiety.

No Oxygen Toxicity: You can not get Oxygen Toxicity by regular breathing in room air or even by Hyperventilation.However in Hyperventilation you breath in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide,and all symptoms are due to low carbon dioxide and we correct it by making the person breath in a brown bag and that makes them breath their own co2.
Oxygen Toxicity happens when O2 is high concentration like in divers&amp;babies

when is shortness of breath a problem? the past few days i think ive had shortness of breath, but ive noticed it more frequently as days go. today my oxygen was 98/99, but would that indicate if there was a problem? anxiety could be causing this?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated. Drink more water. Wish you good health!
