It can be: Ovulation is not common on combined ocp, but it does happen sometimes. Symptoms wouldn't be worrisome either way.

Not usually: The hormones in the pill usually prevent the ovulating cervical mucus but they don't always block ovulation and the symptoms associated with a functional cyst and it's rupture at the time of ovulation can still occur. This is most likely with the triphasic pills and least likely with the ones with more active pills in the pack (24 vs. 21). Hope this helps.

BCP ?'s: Low dose oral contraceptives should be taken punctually (within the hour of having taken the previous day's active pill), or withdrawal cramping may occur, along with spotting on occasion.  Ovulation will not occur if the bcp's are taken regularly.  If more than seven days pass before starting a new pack, there is a chance ovulation will occur, along with a chance for pregnancy.

Sort of: You might experience symptoms 'like' ovulation, but over 90% of the time you will not be ovulating on a combined ocp.

Yes: The old "adage" that you need to wait 3 months after stopping the pill before things are normal again is simply not true.  In fact the best ovulation a woman will see is the first one after being off the pill, that will happen at the normal interval of 14 days after the cycle starts if you are a woman with a normal cycle interval and normal ovulation. Yes: Ovulation could occur as soon as a week after stopping the pill, but could also take as long as six months.

Accepted Answer

Yes: If your age is 43 you may have "early recruitment" which is when your body recruits eggs early because your body has to work harder to get the egg to release (due to lower egg quality).

The ovulation kit lets you know a day before you ovulate. If your menses comes 2 weeks after you think you ovulated, then you were correct that you ovulated on day 6 or 7 (21 day cycle).

Mostly: Combination ocp (estrogen +progestin) mostly does stop ovuation, although low-dose pills or mini-pill (progestin only) may have more chance of breakthru ovulation.

One cycle: Most women ovulate first cycle off the pill, some take up to 2 or 3 cycles.

Hard to tell: Usually ovulation takes places in the mid cycle, so roughly 2 weeks after your period. When you say "going off pill", do you mean going off  the sugar pills or off the true pills? Usually you would menstruate at the end of the sugar pills, so you would not normally menstruate then.
