It would be most helpful to have these looked at when they are happening, get cultures done, and possibly get blood drawn for antibodies. If Herpes can be definitely confirmed then there are effective management options.

Herpes vs Cyst: Herpes is usually an open tender sore on top of the skin, whereas a cyst is a type of clogged pore--a bump under the skin.  Let your doctor take a quick look.  It should be very easy to tell the difference for her or him.

Skin Tag, Hemorroid: A painless, flesh colored tag around the anus could be a skin tag or a tag from an old hemorroid.  Herpes typically starts out as a painful bump and then can be filled with clear fluid.  The area around the herpes infection is red and painful.  A sebaceous cyst is a little harder, filled with thick sebaceous material which can typically be squeezed out.  You could also have a condyloma.

Culture: Sometimes it takes awhile for body to make antibodies to hsv (herpes).  If you have these lesions, the next good step would be to get a culture done of the cysts.... That will provide you with a definitive answer.  Yellow discharge could also be tested at the time for other sources of infection like yeast or bacteria.  Best of luck!

recently i tested positive for hsv1 and 2. in actually shocked as i was feeling fine and asked for the test.  i did an igm herpes test. i had what i thought was like  a cyst in the upper right of my pubic area. im guessing that was herpes?

If you get painful lesions in the genital area, your doctor can prescribe anti-viral medication that can limit the outbreaks and symptoms.

Don't worry: Herpes usually looks like blisters (open wounds), and it is painful.  You cannot contract genital herpes in your vagina from oral sex.  Without seeing the bump, it is impossible to tell what it is; it may be a cyst or a wart.  If it does not go away on its own, see your GYN.  Best wishes.
