If he/she thinks it is limited, and can be treated with antibiotics, then it can be treated at home, accordingly.  Please see your doctor for this.

Please go to ER: Decrease in pain in a spreading infection is a dangerous sign, as the infection may be affecting the nerves in the skin and soft tissues. Cellulitis and abscess may need to be treated with IV antibiotics. Please go to the hospital emergency room to be evaluated and treated as soon as possible.
