They often occur in multiple and bilaterally.They are thought to be due to excess circulating gonadotropins such as b-HCG. These cysts are associated with delayed or failed breast milk production. Contact your lactation consultant for additional information.

Generally yes: The cyst itself is usually a benign issue competing for space with the milk producing glands.They are generally walled off and separate. They could interfere with the lacteals and might cause problems with flow. But arenot a risk to baby.

Breastfeeding: If you had surgery on one breast and are still breastfeeding, you can still continue from the other breast.  You may need to pump from the breast that was operated on and may consider discarding the milk for 2-3 days after the surgery or if there is blood in the milk. It should be okay after the area is healed. You should talk to your surgeon to get his recommendations.
