Yes it can: Yes cysts can return. A visit to the obgyn for an exam and sonogram would confirm. Vaginal odor can be a sign of bacterial vaginosis. Vaginal itching can be a sign of a yeast infection. Sometimes vaginal discharge can be a sign of a sexual transmitted infection. It is a good idea to get checked out.

The cyst...: ...is a possible cause, but if it's less than 3 cm, it's not likely.  Painful intercourse can be due to adhesions, endometriosis, muscle spasms, dermatitis, among other causes.  I have found that many women think they are abnormal for having painful sex, but the reality is most women do not like when their cervix is manipulated, and you may be normal.  It depends on your medical history and exam.

i had intense pelvic pain during sex. i had an ultrasound. my left ovarian cyst had ruptured and the blood was causing the pain. is there a treatment?

Rest: If this Ultrasound was recent and they made sure you are not pregnant, rest from sexual activity, Naprosyn (naproxen) for pain should allow the cyst to calm down. Should more severe pain occur a recheck at the emergency room would be indicated.

Painful periods: There are multiple options. Hormonal treatments such as birth control pills, Progesterone treatments and the Mirena (levonorgestrel) iud are effective reversible treatments that will help many people. There is also a drug called Lysteda that contains no hormones which will help others. An evaluation for endometriosis, ovarian cysts and other issues needs to be done first.

Pain with Sex: This could be totally normal. It is probably al's a good idea to avoid the position so as not to replicate the pain. If you are not pained in other positions, you may have solved the problem.

Ovarian cyst: Yes ovarian cysts can cause pelvic pain during intercourse.  Endometriosis and adenomyosis can also be conditions that cause chronic pelvic, menstrual irregularities, and especially pain during intercourse.  I would see your gynecologist to have this checked.  Hope this helps

Ovarian pain: We can't be sure that the discomfort is emanating from your ovary. It could be of muscular or ligament origin. I recommend having a rectopelvic examination by your gynecologist. A pelvic ultrasound study will most likely be ordered.
