i am at my wits end after suffering with painful ovarian cysts for years.  what more can be done? i am a 24 y/o female who has suffered painful ovarian cysts for the past 4 years.  i have two children, and suffered one miscarriage before they were born.

I : I understand your frustration.  It sounds like you have failed all conservative treatment.  Please discuss surgical options with your physician.  You may also want to seek out a second opinion about other conservative treatments.   Cysts are very painful and debilitating and i'm sorry you are going through this.

Interesting question: I assum you have period, but you want to know it is a miscarriage, or normal period, and want to know it is caused by ovarian cyst. First of all, you know what your normal period should be, if you missed your period for few days, especially after pregnancy test, then you know it is miscarriage. Sometime, functional ovarian cyst may delay your period, you may find out by ultrasound and blood test.

No: The torsion of the ovary doesn't usually cause a miscarriage.   Are you pregnant?

i have a 5cm ovarian cyst on my left ovary & i am 19. it caused my miscarriage at 7w. could it cause reoccurring miscarriages if untreated?

Probably not: This sounds like a corpus luteum cyst which normally would support a pregnancy.  Normally the cyst may range from 2.5cm to 5.5 cm and regress if you do not get pregnant.
A miscarrage at your age is fairly common although emotionally stressful.

Depends on cyst: What it is, why its there, and how long it's been there. Ovarian cysts are very rarely (if ever) connected with miscarriage, and miscarriage does not cause a woman to get cysts. Small cyclic ovarian cysts (follicles) are common and normal in women who cycle: your doctor can explain further if you are interested. Good wishes.

Ovarian cyst: Pain from the very insist would normally be filled in front and to one side or the other. However it is possible to have pain in the back from the cyst.            Ovarian cysts again not the usual cause of miscarriages however, you can get a hemorrhagic corpus luteum cyst which lowers the Progesterone level which leads to miscarriage. Not a typical cause of miscarriage… But I have seen situations where Progesterone levels are very low in the presence of such assist. Check Progesterone levels and supplement if needed

i found out during an er visit for a miscarriage that i have a 1cm hard ovarian cyst. this was my 1st pregnancy. should i be concerned?

Follow up: The size and description of the cyst are reassuring, but you should certainly have ultrasound follow up for certainty.
