MS: Typically, most medical schools use infusion centers on site.  Many outpatient cancer centers can infuse tysabri (natalizumab) also.  Many community hospitals can provide this service.

Children's center: Personally (and I am biased as a pediatrician), I would prefer a children's center with a code team.  These types of facilities are generally better equipped and staffed to respond to an unlikely emergency.

Yes: and probably under local with conscientious sedation

is it more advisable to get a colonoscopy at a surgical outpatient center vs a doctor's office?  is propofol safe to use as anesthesia during it?

Basically yes: While most healthy people can safely have a colonoscopy in a private office, an outpatient surgical center likely has greater support in the unlikely event that problems occur. Propafol is quite safe and preferable when i look at the feedback from my own patients who have had both varieties of anesthesia. If you are paying out of pocket, propafol will be more expensive.

i am an md in a tertiary care outpatient wound center. do you have any strong sense whether doxycycline hyclate or monohydrate is clinically superior? i sometimes hear that one leads to less gi discomfort, but i cannot seem to find a definitive source.  t

Truly a supportive bunch. When Vibramycin, (doxycycline) (d. hyclate) was approved, it touted less GI upset and that supported my scant clinical experience.  However, recently, a patient said that he had better acne control with the monohydrate.

Mestectomies?: Mastectomies performed in the out patient setting is the surgical removal of breast under anesthesia.

Inject: An infusion implies a substance administered via IV 2 a person, such as blood (transfusion), antibiotics and pain meds or other meds. Some can be infused subq but rarely.

What about them?: They are good in order to strengthen the bones affected by cancer or osteoporosis.

when is an albumin infusion necessary?

Accepted Answer

Rarely: There are other ways to build up blood volume. Albumin does not last very long. It is usually given when other types of infusion have already been done.
