sprained wrist many mon ago. still having problems and the otto surgeon said to wear my brace. is that more of a compression brace or  one with medal?

Metal splint: Sprains should heal in 6-8 weeks. You might have a torn ligament or a fracture. You need to see a hand specialist. You need special X-ray and possibly a MRI.

i need a knee replacement so my otto gave me painkillers till i go but lately i had a lot of pain so it says take  1to 2 every 4 hrs for pa?

Ice: Try to limit the pain killers. Usually an absolute max is 8/day. It depends on the drug and the strength. Cold packs for 15-20 minutes at a time can help. There are many different meds to try if the 1 you are using is not effective.

my 15 month old son fell off kitchen island onto a wooden floor, should i take him to the er. he cried a little and stopped when i comforted him.

Precautions: These may help--
make sure he is alert
wake up every 3-4 hrs for 24 hrs to make sure he is ok
make sure pupils are equal
make sure no repeated vomiting is happening
make sure balance is ok-
if any of these are awry, call your doctor asap.

fall onto hard kitchen floor over week ago on my left side caused black eye, have now increased  pain under right rib wall, radiating to middle back.

Get examined by Dr.!: You might even need an xray to make sure you haven't fractured a rib during your trauma. Plus, you need to be seen by the eye doctor to make sure you didn't cause injury to your eye, or have an eye fracture. This has to be seen in person. The rib connects from the spine (mid back?)to the sternum, depending on the Rib #. So get seen soon, and get relief!

i cut myself with a kitchen knife, while preparing lunch. if a small amount of blood from the knife got onto the peperoni/cheese, could it infect somebody who ate it with something like hepatitis? hope i'm panicking for nothing, but thanks in advance?

: No.  Transmission of hepatitis A result from ingestion of food contaminated with fecal excretion, whereas hepatitis B &amp; C from contact with infectious  body fluids, not by ingestion.

the tip of a knife fell onto the top of my foot from the kitchen counter. it bled alot until i elevated the foot. the cut is less then 1cm long, but fairly deep. i have cleanes it, and covered. do i need a tetnus shot and possibly stitches?

Probably not..: You don't need a Tetanus shot since kitchen knifes are presumably clean (unless the knives you had was used to dig soil). If the wound is a sharp clean cut, it should heal on its own, but if it is jagged and gaping then you may need stitches

Broken rib: You either broke or bruise your rib. Either way it is very painful. If pain persisted ask for a rib block and ribs X-ray it really will not matter if you broke it or bruise it the treatment is the same

I am assuming that: you are referring to varying products as I am not aware of any specific brand called "Mosquito Killer". Many of the sprays, zappers, traps scented candles, etc are effective in this manner.

Heart disease: In both women and men, heart disease is the number one cause of death. It crosses all racial groups also.

is it acceptable to wash yourself in kitchen sink?

Accepted Answer

Washing: If that is all is available to you  then I would use it. Would insure that sink is well cleaned out afterwards.
