There are several: A diet rich in calcium (dairy, dark green vegetables, fortified foods) and vitamin d (fish, eggs, liver, fortified foods) can help.  A little sun exposure stimulates your skin to make vitamin d.  Avoid or limit smoking, alcohol, and sodas.  Muscle building exercises stimulate bones to take in more calcium.  Many prescription meds can cause bone loss; talk to your doctor about these.

If : If you already have established osteoporosis it is very difficult to avoid medications to treat it. The addition of calcium and vitamin d supplements will help maintain an adequate supply  of this nutrients to the bone but  in most cases is not enough to help the bone retain them and therefore medications that help prevent bone loss are needed. Weight bearing exercises will help maintain bone mass after it has been reestablished.

Exercise and vit D: Weight-bearing exercises will help strengthen your bones. Calcium and vitamin d supplements also help-i recommend a blood test for vitamin d (25 hydroxy vitamin d), it should be 30 or higher. Some people need much more vitamin d than what is recommended to get their level up to 30. Be active: Start with low impact exervcises, such as tai chi or similar activities.

Having a diet that is well balanced and includes enough calcium is quite important as well.

Try to avoid diet things that cause you to leech out calcium from your bones, such as caffeine.

No: First, with osteoporosis, the bone i not dead it is only decreased in amount bone is living and has the ability to heal. People with osteoporosis will heal a fracture. Boniva (ibandronate) slows the rate of bone loss but does not stimulate the growth of new bone. However, since the body continues to make bone, the density usually goes up with Boniva (ibandronate) and similar meds. Few treatments have proven to make new bone.

Several : Several non-oral medications are now available that bypass the gastrointestinal tract - so they usually do not contribute to reflux.  These medications include zoledronic acid (reclast), ibandronate (boniva), Denosumab (prolia) and parathyroid hormone (forteo).  I would recommend discussing these options with your primary doctor or make an appointment with a specialist such as a rheumatologist.
