Never heard of it: Yeast in the guts is normal (also in the mouth). Overgrowth of yeast is often related to recent antibiotic usage. Leaking gut syndrome is a rare condition.

YES...,: It hurts, gives an uneasy sensation in the mouth. Treatment is simple. There are many other causes of bad breath, e.g. Poor oral hygiene, less fluid intake, sinusitis, strep/viral pharyngitis, tonsillitis, unhealthy gums, gingivitis, dental caries/cavities, crowded teeth, stomach infection (h. Pylori), etc.  Talk to your doctor.

what could the consequences be of you take prednisone when you have a fungal infection (oral thrush) when having a reaction to amoxicillin? what alternative treatment would be suitable other than antibiotics or nystatin?..

Thrush : Prednisone is not used to treat oral thrush. The treatment for oral thrush is antibiotics.

Thrush: oral thrush is extremely unusual at this age. Unless you are using inhaled corticosteroids, you need to see the doctor evaluation of immune status.

i have been getting recurring yeast infections & oral thrush since december . my bloodwork came back fine.   my doctor doesn't think this is systematic.  i think that it is and i need a long term anti-fungal med to treat it.  can i get feedback ?

Controversial: There is no easy answer to that question as there is no hard medical evidence for the "systemic yeast infection."  That being said, medicine is an art and I have treated several of my patients with recurrent yeast infections more aggressively with diflucan (fluconazole).  I have also done fungal cultures to determine if there is another fungal cause that requires a different anti-fungal medication.

Fungal infection : You can try using Nizoral (ketoconazole) which is used for fungal infections of scalp but i doubt that it will work. I believe for best results you will need to take oral medication but ideally you should see a dermatologist for help.

See answer: Fungal infections of penis primarily occur in uncircumcised men and affect the head of the penis and foreskin (balanoposthitis). More common in diabetics, primarily because fungi grow best in moist environments with sugar. Symptoms: redness, swelling, soreness, whitish discharge, and splitting of foreskin. Treatment: proper hygiene, antifungal cream (e.g. Clotrimazole), or oral med (fluconazole).

Maybe gentian violet: 1% gentian violet is a dye that kills bacteria and fungi, sometimes it works as treatment for thrush. It is available without a prescription. Gentian violet is only for adults. Ask your pharmacist for recommendations. Good luck, but if it is too severe - see a doctor.

what anti-fungal for vaginal thrush can i take that is compatible with sertraline (zoloft) as i am currently taking 50mg daily of this medication? in the past, i have used fluconazole but it appears this is incompatible with sertraline?

: The risk level is low, but to be safest the combination should be avoided because of increased risk of hearth rhythm problems. Treatment with vaginal azole cream or insert (miconazole, clotrimazole, etc) is equally effective as oral fluconazole and would be entirely safe while taking sertraline. (All vaginal azoles are equally effective. You can choose the least expensive.)

No: Thrush, by definition involved mucus membrane and topical preparations meant for use on skin should not be used on mucus membranes.
