Pelvic floor : The cervix is the opening of the uterus and is controlled by the autonomic nervous system. Exercise will not open the uterus. Pelvic floor exercise will strengthen below the cervix.

what does a high soft open cervix mean?

Close to labor: Those specific words describe the qualities of the cervix, the entrance to the womb/uterus, during the last part of the pregnancy. "soft" means that the cervix is ripe or ready for labor, which is good if you are near your due date, "open" is also good if you are near, it means labor can be imminent, "high" means either long cervix or high presenting part of the baby. You can't actually: You will not be able to tell if your cervix is dilating or not unless you have an examination by an MD.  If you happen to know what your cervix feels like due to masturbation, you might be able to feel that your cervix is softer and the cervical os is wider (the little hole is bigger), but it takes med students quite a while to learn, and I wouldn't recommend you check yourself, anyway

Probably normal: This is probably normal and has more to do with your experience checking cervices rather than any anatomic abnormality.  At your next gyn visit you can have them comment on this directly.

Do not do it yoursel: it is not an easy skill and difficult to do it on yourself.  Furthermore, You will need an obstetrician's guidance so as not to miss out on prenatal care.

Open &amp; shut answer: This a a "hard" question to answer without context of more information to determine why you are concerned if the cervix is 'open" or not. Pregnancy generally softens the cervix, and open versus closed cervix is relevant at the end of pregnancy prior to labor not ovulation.
