Probably not herpes: Herpes doesn&#x27;t cause firm bumps, and never causes any kind of bump that persists more than a day or two without changing quickly into blister/pimples and then open sores. Doubt herpes, but...: This is not likely to be herpes, which generally does not cause sores in hairy areas, especially with the intitial HSV infection. And herpes rarely causes a "big raised bump" anywhere. I'm betting on pimples or folliculitis. But if you remain concerned, or if herpes seems possible because you are at risk for STD (e.g. new or unsafe partner), see a doctor or clinic. Better safe than sorry!

Not herpes: Almost certainly not herpes; sounds like a pimple. Herpes lesions are very superficial, not a red bump in the skin, and you can't squeeze out pus, And although recurrent herpes outbreaks can show up as single lesions (if you've had it a long time), the first infection almost always causes multiple superficial painful blisters and sores. So keep hands off, let it heal, and don't worry further.

: I think you're speaking of pubic/genital shaving, right? This sounds like folliculitis, i.e. irritation or infection of hair follicles, often triggered by shaving. Genital herpes usually doesn't involve the pubic area, only the genitals directly (e.g. penis, scrotum); and association of some lesions with hairs also is against herpes. It can take a couple weeks for folliculitis to heal completely.

Skin Abscess: It's unlikely to be herpes. Herpes tends to be a patch of vesicles that ooze clear secretions. It's most likely a skin infection if it's not on the shaft of the penis; that being said you should still get tested for stds.
