Swelling feet: More likely caused by hypertension/hbp (salt intake related) rather than fungal infection.

Possible tendonitis: You may have a flexor tendonitis.  If there are no color or temperature changes to the toe:  ice it for about 10 minutes 3 times a day.  Try taping it to the 4th toe to help reduce movement and wear shoes with a rigid sole.   The less you move the toe the better it should feel and faster it should feel better.  Icing will reduce inflammation and help with pain.

Abscess:  We don't know your medical history. But if you have a true abscess, than popping to release pus may not be adequate. Abscesses are often loculated, so each chamber needs to be broken up manually for healing to occur.  Incision and drainage by a medical professional may be required.

One side: If you have swelling on just one side then it most likely is not a simple case of generalized water retention . Unilateral swelling has many potential causes. I would suggest contacting your primary care physician for a more thorough work-up.
