Yes: You can take it for months, but it is not recommended in high doses for long periods of time. Adjustments of your diet, or oral antacids may also help.

Stay the course: Continue to go to your doctor and give your medication some time to work. Call your doctor and tell him or her that your omeprazole is not working. Ask for a referral to a Gastroenterologist and to a Cardiologist. Try to stay calm, sometimes a complex problem may require more than one visit before the physicians work through a differential diagnosis,  order tests, and optimize your medication.

Acid pain: If you've been taking 40 mgs of omeprazole for over 7-10 days and still having symptoms, I recommend consulting a gastroenterologist for evaluation and accurate diagnosis. A gastroscopy &amp; testing for h pylori may be recommended. In the meantime avoid caffeine, alcohol,aspirin &amp; anti-inflammatory medication like ibuprofen or naproxen. Avoid spicy&amp;greasy foods.

my 4 month old baby has silent reflux and is on losec (omeprazole)  he's a very fussy sleeper day and night he will not have more than 10 min naps few times a day?

Reflux: Reflux that is symptomatic and not responding to treatment needs to evaluated further by your physician. May need a special formula, different medication and further evaluation as well.

female. 24. 148lbs. omeprazole is my only medication. i was taking sprintec but recently stopped because i thought it was possibly causing my symptoms but my symptoms have stayed. i randomly started having heart "flutters" multiple times a day?

:  Since you're experiencing palpitations multiple times a day it'll require your wearing an outpatient heart monitor for 24-48 hours to determine whether you're having arrhythmias and what type they may be  Discuss this with your physician. You may be referred to a cardiologist for a full evaluation. A thyroid level may also be checked. In the meantime avoid alcohol and caffeine.

As : As far as I am aware, there are no drug interactions between any of the above listed medications. Each one has it's own side effect profile, which should have been included when the medication was picked up. As far as safety, all of the above are approved by the food and drug administration (fda) and have been used for some time. Acid: You can double the dose but you can also supplement it with Tums (calcium carbonate) and you may want to see a doctor if Omeprazole no longer controls your symptoms.

Yes: Symptomatic treatments like Omeprazole can be stopped as you wish. The benefit of this medication is on reducing stomach acidity & if you cut down on acidic drinks, nicotine & caffeine you might get by without it. If your heartburn or relates symptoms return you can reatart it.

my doctor has me taking two 20 mg nexium (esomeprazole) or prilosec a day. if i took the generic omeprazole 20mg would that be the same?

Timing is everything: The drugs have an unique action. They blow up the protein that runs acid secretion. The duration of effect is 1) how effective the drug, 2) how long til the stuff grows back and 3) sorta how long the drug is in the system BUT none of these stay around longer than the time it takes for the stuff to grow back. Prilosec=omepr is 1/2 strong as nexium (esomeprazole). Taking them spread out matters most.

Apple Cider vinegar: Hi, do you mean Apple Cider Vinegar? if that so then that would make you worse, any acidic food would make GERD worse, watch ur diet, avoid acidic food, spicy food, caffeinated drink, chocolate, greasy food, alcohol and if not better see your MD.
