Yes: Red, itchy, swollen eyes may indicate an allergy to almost anything...Laundry detergent, dryer sheets, eye makeup, lotions, mail polish and may other things.

Eye symptoms: Your symptoms, especially the shadow over part of vision, indicate the need for you to see an opthalmologist ASAP.  You MAY have a retinal tear.  Peace and good health.

Yes: There are several antihistamine containing eye-drops both prescription or over the counter.  Ask your pharmacist to point them out to you.  I use them regularly an over the counter eye-drop and an oral medication,  i prefer zyrtec (cetirizine) but others work well.

See an eyeMD: How do you know that they itch?  That is a symptom.  Mif the eyes are red, that could be caused by a variety of things. No "gunk"is a good thing, but my best advice is to see an ophthalmologist.

Cool compresses!: Wash cloth with cool water and hold on the closed eyes. You can also use a preservative free artificial tear drop every couple hours. Otherwise see your pediatrician.

? Sinus ?: It sounds like there is something in the kids sleeping environment that she is allergic to. Fumes, dust, odors, pollen, etc. are a common trigger to such events. Clean up her environment with air filters may stop the events.

Not related: Itchy eyes come from allergy  and dryness mostly.  Old glasses may cause blur but not itching.
