Imaging?: I would suggest imaging (MRI) to exclude the possibility of a nerve lesion affecting cranial nerves or brainstem. See a neurologist.

See a dentist: Wait a few days and see if your condition improves.  Maybe you burned your tongue.  If your tongue does not feel better or look better in a few days see a dentist.

Thrush?: Thrush can occur after taking strong antibiotics or steroids and is an overgrowth of candida species(fungal) that needs special medication to treat.  Please see an md of you are at risk for thrush..

It can: Infection underneath resulting in tissue inflammation, food build up, decay, etc, may lead to bad mouth associated with it.

Possibly: As an autoimmune disease, Sjogrens attacks your mucous producing glands to cause a dry mouth. Since mucous performs an important self cleaning function, it strikes me that food debris or bacteria could establish a long term foothold in the back corners of your mouth. That could certainly cause discomfort and produce odors. Use immaculate oral hygiene and artificial saliva to combat this.

Junk Food: Candy and other junk foods are loaded w/chemicals and sugar that the body does not recognize.  If this persists please see your doctor.  Peace and good health.  Dark chocolate (80% or more) is a better choice.

got injection of steroids for bursitis in my elblow and took 200mg of motrin 3-4 times a day afterwards.  odd taste in my mouth developed.  all food taste bad. any relation?

Steroids: can cause that taste and so can interaction of OTC NSAIDS like Advil, especially when taken together: bad idea.

See your dentist: Sometimes an odd metallic taste can come from a sore, ulcer, or a gum problem.  Be sure you have your dentist check the area.
