These results discribed are disk disease/degenerative changes, there is nothing described to tell of how sever eit is so it is difficult to know what the extent is without seeing the images. The most important thing concerning the MRI is to make sure the finding are consistent with your symptoms in order to tell if it is of any concern. As we age, most of us have the abnormalities as described in your report, but the importance is deciding if this is the cause of your symptoms. This should be done by your doctor.

Yes you can: When you can start running will be when your surgeon clears you to start. Typically about 6 weeks is all it takes to get back to your usual activities. But this can be longer if you have a multilevel fusion.  Ask your spine surgeon.

This could cause enough difficulty to result in other problems with your health that could contribute to death.  While that is the most extreme of possibilities, it is possible.  My best recommendation is that you treat this like an impending heart problem. Act early.
