Many: Pain in the body particularly the joints.  Difficulty with mobility.  Shortness of breath.  High blood pressure, increased risk of diabetes, increased risk of heart problems including stroke and death, problems related to circulation.  Depression, social stigmatization, discrimination, poor self-image.  Fortunately, all are improved with reduction in weight and obesity is reversible.

Tests are accurate: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon.

Related: Obesity is a disease in itself, related most particularly to sugar, pop etc. The constipation follows from that and is a reflectfion of your poor diet.

Sweet Tooth: The best and obvious answer is to curtail the sweets. Any thing in excess to eat is not good for the body. Sweets in moderation only.Also, would recommend a hemoglobin A1c to look at the trend of his sugars over the last month or so.

GERD or PND: Post Nasal Drip (PND ) can cause night time cough and so does Reflux Esphagitis in  supine position. Try taking Claritin like drug at night. Do you have Pet?

Not certain: The exact cause of pseudo tumor is not known. It is often found in obese young women but losing weight may not reverse the process. It is now believed that pseudo tumor is in some way associated with excessive spinal fluid production or absorption.

We believe weight is: ....an important risk factor in patients with meralgia paresthetica.  Having said that I have several patients who are not obese at all and who still have the problem.  So, excess weight doesn't really fit as the explanation in all cases.  However, let's say you drop the weight adequately and NOTHING improves.....a bit of a bummer I'll admit....BUT...you'll have gotten yourself into swimsuit shape

ldh high 272 a month ago. obese/prediabetic, glu109, ldl 114. lost 18 lbs thru diet/exercise. 3 wks later ldh isoenzyme test total dropped to 243 (high).  low in 1 (12) high in 3 (34) & 4 (16). prediabetes related? no symptoms of illness/lymphoma.

Time of test: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, normal values are from samples drawn in post-absorptive, recumbent state, first thing in the morning. If your sample was drawn after exercise, it need to redone under proper conditions.

i read that dvt/pe can be deadly but can also present no symptoms. how often is this the case? the fear is ruining my life. i'm 27, male, obese.

Accepted Answer

Not common: DVT usually presents with leg pain and swelling. Small number have no symptoms when in very small veins in leg. Address risk factor of obesity and overall risk will decrease.
