You mean a "DNR"?: It is unfortunate and sad when a loved one gets sick to the point where further treatment will just cause more pain without helping. At that point we try to make them as comfortable as possible. A dnr means "do not resuscitate", meaning if he has a heart attack or starts dying, he won't be shocked or have compressions started. He also won't be intubated and put on a ventilator.
